Overview:
The Government Post Graduate College was established in 1950. Since then, the institute has endeavored to deliver academic excellence in the discipline of Mathematics. In December 2019, the institution received university status and began to broaden its focus from academics to research. The department is currently offering BS Mathematics and MPhil Mathematics program. BS Mathematics program is initiated in Fall 2019 and M.Phil. program is launched in Fall 2023.
The department have now competent and specialized faculty members all having doctorate degree from well reputed international universities. These faculty members are specialized in various fields of Mathematics i.e., Complex Analysis, Computational Algebra Graph Theory, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Numerical Simulations, Mathematical Modelling, Nano Fluids, General Relativity and Cosmology.
Vision:
Our department vision is to produce the competent Mathematicians by introducing the conceptual based studies not the conventional one. Our aim to produce up to mark scientists, IT experts, exemplary Architects, high-minded engineers, and upstanding bankers etc.
Mission:
Our mission is to empower the society with human resource that is equipped with the abilities to observe, analyze, investigate, and solve the problem from any field in a more systematic and convergent way. The presence of many interdisciplinary courses will open new horizon for researchers in many allied fields by using advanced knowledge of Mathematics applicable to other sciences and technologies. Students will be motivated to undertake research in areas of their interest focusing mainly on investigation and modelling of industrial problems using the existing scientific design and solution tools that would enhance their research capabilities and broaden their professional, research and academic perspectives. The program offers a flexible framework including scheme of courses covering major areas of Mathematics like Algebra, Analysis, Topology, Computational Mathematics, Foundations of Mathematics and Financial Mathematics.
HoD Message:
It is pleasure to welcome to the website of the Department of Mathematics, Rawalpindi Women University, Rawalpindi*
The utmost raison d’être of the department is to recognize the ability in young women to conceptualize, investigate, reason and communicate mathematically, and to use mathematics to formulate and solve problems in daily life as well as in mathematical contexts. The significance of Mathematics, in any society, is enormous. It is the bedrock of any national development that circulates on science, the greater population (women) can brighten the future through this queen of science.
My conviction is that any department’s strength is, the faculty it has. By the grace of Allah Almighty, our Mathematics Faculty is highly qualified, competent and well familiar with the fundamental scientific research, and modern scientific and technological research trends as well
Indeed, the proficient and professional faculty is the driving force of innovation and technology, resulting; the production of a highly qualified working force in the country, producing the highest number of MPhil and PhD scholars.
Our Mission is to encourage girls and women to empower mathematically so they can be a more vigilant and prudent service provider in Mathematics field.
Mathematics Department offers a variety of modern courses in BS, MPhil degrees in various branches of Mathematics. If you are thinking of pursuing a degree in Mathematics, you can be assured that many opportunities are waiting for you. We, in the Faculty, aim to create a collegial, propitious and conducive environment for encouraging excellent researchers and scholars. We invigorate young women to excel in whatever field she is best in, either its teaching or research or cultivating a critical skill that is essential to the mission of this Faculty.
The Department of Mathematics, Rawalpindi Women University, are focusing on different areas of research namely Complex Analysis, Computational Algebra Graph Theory, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Numerical Simulations, Mathematical Modelling, Nano Fluids, Biomathematics, Cosmology, Differential equations, Relativity, and Scientific Computing.
I hope that you will find our website educative, informative and user-friendly.
Profound Regards
Dr.Saima Mustafa
Head of Department
